Vielleicht ist es Euch schon aufgefallen, aber ich bin prinzipiell ein total naturverbundener Mensch. Allerdings hat es sich in den letzten Jahren aufgrund meiner Wohnsituation so entwickelt, dass ich von meinen Freunden eher als „Grottenmolch“ bezeichnet werde. Ich bin zwar in der glücklichen Lage, eine Terrasse zu haben, allerdings misst diese nicht einmal drei Quadratmeter und ist sehr einsichtig. Wahrscheinlich werden das die meisten von Euch nachvollziehen können. Als wir dann unsere Zusammenarbeit mit Westwing* starteten, nahm ich das als Anlass, den „Raum“ neu zu gestalten und mehr Zeit draußen zu genießen.
Maybe you’ve already noticed but I’m a very nature-loving person. Unfortunately over the past couple of years, probably due to the nature of my home, my friends started to see me more like the kind of person to hide inside. I do have a little patio, although it’s only about 30 square feet and right next to the street. I guess most of you know what I have to deal with. When we started working with Westwing*, I thought why not use this collaboration and redecorate my little room on the outside and also to spend some more time there.
Am Anfang war ich ein bisschen skeptisch (das liegt wohl in meiner Natur), da ich Konsum ja prinzipiell sehr kritisch gegenüber stehe. Es ist schon irgendwie paradox, wenn man so wie ich viel Wert auf nachhaltige und ökologische Gartenarbeit Wert legt und sich dann sein grünes Naturrefugium mit Made-in-China Ware dekoriert.
At first I was a bit sceptical (I guess that’s just who I am), since I’m not a very much into consumption. It’s a little bit strange to attach a lot of value to sustainable and ecological production and then to decorate your garden with Made-in-China products.
Normalerweise bin ich ja eher der Wiederverwertungstyp. Wie viele großartige Fundstücke gibt es denn, die man kreativ zu Deko-Objekten verwandeln kann? So entwickelt man auch eine ganz andere Beziehung – oder nennen wir es besser Einstellung – zu diesem besonderen Gegenstand. Wäre Ni nicht so begeistert von Westwing, hätte ich wahrscheinlich nicht zugestimmt.
I like to recycle stuff. There are so many great finds that you can turn into amazing decoration. That way, you also get a little bit more attached to the object in question, you start to think about it a little more. If Ni hadn’t been so amazed by Westwing, I probably would have declined.
Doch im Nachhinein betrachtet, fügen sich meine Eroberungen doch gut in mein kleines Reich ein, nicht wahr? Und immer möchte man ja auch nicht der Buhmann sein 😉
Außerdem möchte ich schon so lange ein paar schöne Laternen auf meiner Terrasse haben und nun hat sich mein Traum erfüllt. Leider war eine Glasscheibe gesprungen, aber der Kundenservice hat das Problem schnell und unkompliziert gelöst.
But looking at it now, these little things actually look pretty nice in my home, don’t you think? And you can’t always be the scapegoat, right?
Besides, I’ve been looking for some lanterns ever since I got this place and now my dream has come true. Unfortunately one of the glass panes was broken, however that was quickly taken care of by their customer service.
In der schönen weißen Aufbewahrungsbox werden nun künftig meine Samen-Errungenschaften aufbewahrt und bis zur nächsten Saison gelagert.
In this lovely white box we shall be storing all kinds of seeds from now on.
Zusätzlich habe ich mir noch die drei hängenden Töpfe ausgesucht. So bringe ich noch mehr Pflanzen platzsparend auf der kleinen Fläche unter. Wie gefällt Euch mein neu dekoriertes, kleines Reich?
And then I also got these lovely hanging pots. That way I can have even more plants on my tiny little patio. How do you like my redecorated little realm?
