Eigentlich bin ich nicht der große Adventmarkt-Geher, aber diesen wunderschönen, zauberhaften Weihnachtsmarkt in Würflach lasse ich mir kein Jahr entgehen, es ist einer der schönsten Adventmärkte, den ich kenne. Die romantische Johannesbachklamm befindet sich im südlichen Niederösterreich (Schneebergland) und ist von dichten Wäldern und bedeckten Hügeln umgeben.
Natürlich gibt es bei uns in Wien auch einige sehr schöne Märkte wie etwa am Spittelberg, beim alten AKH oder aber auch Schönbrunn – um nur einige zu nennen. Aber die wirklich schönen findet man einfach in der Provinz. Gerne besuchen wir auch in der Vorweihnachtszeit Mariazell, dort befindet sich der größte Adventkranz Österreichs und wenn es dann auch noch schneit – das ist einfach herrlich.
To be honest I don’t like Christmas markets very much, this one in Würflach however I just cannot resist, it’s one of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen. The very romantic Johannesbachklamm located in the southern part of Lower Austria (Schneebergland) and is surrounded by forest and hills on all four sides.
Of course there’s also a few very nice markets here in Vienna as well, like the one in Spittelberg, at the old AKH or the one in Schönbrunn – to name but a few. The really amazing ones however can only be found far away from the big city. We also like to visit Mariazell during the pre-Christmas period, they have the biggest advent wreath of Austria on display there and if it snows – well it’s just lovely, let me tell you.
In der Vorweihnachtszeit findet jedes Jahr ein Adventmarkt direkt in der Klamm statt. Die rund 60 Meter tiefe und 1.000 Meter lange Johannesbachklamm liegt zur Gänze im Wettersteinkalk. Sie ist ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel für Wanderer. Schon in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde der Weg durch die Klamm von Bergleuten, die im nahegelegenen Steinkohlebergwerk arbeiteten, benutzt.
During the pre-Christmas period they always host this advent market in the gorge. Johannesbachklamm (Klamm is the german word for gorge) is around 200 feet deep, over 3000 feet long and is surrounded by Wetterstein-chalk. It’s a very popular place for hiking. The path through the gorge was used a lot during the second half of the 19th century by miners who would pass through on their way to work at the coal mine not far from there.
Auch der Heilige Nikolaus kam auf einen Besuch vorbei.
Even St Nicholas came to visit.
Die Attraktion ist sicherlich der größte, geschmückte Christbaum Österreichs. Unter diesem 20 Meter hohen Giganten befindet sich ein Gabentisch mit überdimensionalen Geschenken.
The great attractionis of course the tallest Christmas tree in Austria. Underneath this 65 foot giant you’ll find lots of enormous Christmas presents.
Leider lag kein Schnee, aber trotzdem war es sehr stimmungsvoll.
Unfortunately there was no snow, but we had a great time there anyway.
Für romantische Stimmung sorgte die Würflacher Blaskapelle.

Selbstgemachte Köstlichkeiten, viel Kunsthandwerk und wunderschön gedrechselte Holzschalen können hier gekauft werden.
